Angelo Answers Has Its’ Own Page!

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

David has been slaving away meticulously crafting the extraordinarily detailed and complicated home-site for “Angelo Answers”. All you gotta do is go there and ask a question using the automated system, when I do my rounds I will find it and answer it then and there in a typed response or (if it is interesting enough) I’ll do a video about it. We’re thinking about doing videos at least once a month, provided we get enough questions. So come on down and ask away, I am fully prepared to answer anything that has nothing to do with Math.

By the way, the questions don’t always have to be silly or extremely vague, and I won’t always be silly in my answers (especially the typed ones). If you ask a question on a topic I know and care alot about I’d be happy to give you some good, in-depth, well-researched answers. It all depends on the questions and my mood (sending marshmellows will increase your chances of a good answer, just sos ya know.)

TV Casualty and Beqi clothing!

Friday, December 28th, 2007

We have two new additions to the Cranky shelves, got in just before Christmas: An edgy zine “TV Casualty”, and clothes from angry punk-hipster designer Beqi! I am being forced to blog about these additions by our supreme overlord, under threat of he not feedin’ me no more. So, without further ado, my appraisal of these newbies:

Beqi is actually a local, Saint Louis, clothing designer and maker (she designs and sews all of these clothes in her own home). I have to say, the clothes look rather nice. I can’t where them, of course, because they are all girly-girl clothes meant for animals with boobs. I suppose I could use one of the skirts, but I am not sure my university would let me take my diploma with it on. I am already on thin ice for wearing lipstick for about two years and dressing the school mascot up like Dr. Frankenfurter.

The designs tend to be rather colorful, not pastel or anything like that. More of a “dark shadow has been cast over munchkin land” sort of colorful. As a matter of fact, one jade top looks like it’d be worn by the kitsch kids in the emerald city. My personal favorite is the white skirt covered in black bats, rather fetching I must say. Mixing and matching is probably what Beqi’s clothes are best for. If you like to layer, match, mix, ‘n experiment you’ve come to the right place. It’s sort of like a Chinese buffet, everything can go with anything, all you gotta do is mix what flavors you most enjoy tasting.

As for TV Casualty, I’ll let these quotes speak for themselves:

“F&$* Homophobia, Don’t Hate Congratulate!”

“That’s right, Dent Tomorrow’s Turd!”

“….Drinking 40oz of beer with homeless men that look like Papa Smurf in back alley ways.”

“Be your own cool”

“Wal-Mart is like the average American. It’s big, fat, and full of crap.”

What more can I say? Come by the store and check it out!

So I Havn’t Blogged In Awhile, You Wanna Fight About It?

Monday, December 24th, 2007

A bunch of things have been happening, most notably a few new interviews and a new youtube segment called “Angelo Answers”, starring your’s truly.

Firstly we’ve got our latest interview: Strawfoot, a hardcore country, folk band comprised of local St. Louisans. They’re good enough to be famous but smart enough not to. I personally love their music (so they have to be good because I’m extremely picky), and those words of praise have nothing to do with the VIP passes they’ve given us (The Crankies can’t be bribed, despite how poor we are). I advise anyone who likes a little soul in their country, a little punk in their folk, and a little fly in their soup to check out Strawfoot’s interview, their myspace page, and see them in concert at some point (you might even bump into one of us!).

As for “Angelo Answers” (We originally wanted it to be “Ask Angelo” but the domain was already owned by some gay Italian guy giving relationship advice for 9.99$ a minute): It’s basically just me answering random questions anyone sends me (the first one is from our overlord David on chemicals in our food). If I feel like researching it and giving an in-depth answer I will, otherwise I’ll take what I know and wing it when I don’t while mixing in some jokes. No matter what I decide I am sure you’ll come away more enlightened and more star-struck with the wonder, the beauty, and the insanity that is I, Angelo S.

Until next time Crankies: At ease!

A few Cranky Yellow artists are involved in this winter collaborative at the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis!

Here is some blurbage:

You are invited to dust off your superpowers, don any special costume they might entail, and join us for an interactive carnival-show of imagination and emancipation.

Tens of St. Louis artists, dancers, yoginis, and videographers have been hanging out, collaborating, and sharing a game of “What if….”

– If our full mythic powers could invade daily life — if creativity is truly a force that can shift, uplift, and catalyze healing in our city, what does it look like?

Our responses created a wildly varied, uplifting, family-friendly performance called May These Changes Make Us Light: A Winter Show Collaborative!

Saturday December 15th - 2 Shows - 7pm and 9pm - Tickets $10 Contemporary Art Museum 3750 Washington Blvd. Saint Louis MO 63108

Such a Rainy Day

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

It has been raining for a few days now. I really can’t believe it isn’t freezing considering how cold it is outside!

This weather puts me in the perfect mood to show off these amazing new greeting cards we have in the store!

Each one is a hand cut collage… which makes me really freaking giddy! I’ve been wanting these to get here for a while… so I’m very pleased to finally have them in stock! If you are wondering they are created by Cards by Chelleline!

In other news: Angelo is a grouchy, hungry, promotional fool! Look at the determination on that face!
